History of Rutgers University Law School
The origins of Rutgers Law School can be traced back to the founding of Rutgers College in 1766. In 1908, the New Jersey Legislature established the New Jersey Law School, which later became Rutgers University School of Law in 1950 and was renamed Rutgers University Law School in 1965.
Throughout its history, Rutgers Law School has undergone significant growth and expansion. In 1959, the school moved to its current location in Newark, and in 1974, it established the Camden campus. The school has also expanded its academic offerings, adding new programs and concentrations to meet the evolving needs of the legal profession.
