In addition to the deadlines listed above, there are several other important dates to keep in mind:
- September 1st: The Fulbright website opens for applications.
- December 1st: The deadline to submit letters of recommendation.
- January 1st: The deadline to submit transcripts and other supporting materials.
Visa and Travel Arrangements for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program
Once you have been selected for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, you will need to apply for a J-1 visa. The J-1 visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows foreign students to study in the United States. To apply for a J-1 visa, you will need to:
- Submit a DS-2019 form.
- Pay the visa application fee.
- Schedule an interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate.
Once you have obtained your J-1 visa, you will need to make travel arrangements to the United States. Fulbright Foreign Student Program grantees are provided with round-trip airfare. However, you will be responsible for other travel expenses, such as transportation from the airport to your university.
